Essa construction stagnant

Last year saw about the same number of new homes constructed in Essa township as in the recent past.

A report from township building official Heather Rutherford to council last week reported that permits were issued for 78 single family dwellings, 14 semi-detached dwellings and 57 townhouses in the township. The number of residential buildings was down slightly from 2006 when 161 units were constructed. The township also saw 17 commercial building permits issued in 2007 and 15 agricultural building permits issued in 2007. Overall, construction worth $31,240,272.10 was undertaken in the township during which created permit fees of $337,116.74 for the township.
