Crime Stoppers releases yearly statistics

For the period of January 1st to December 31st 2007, Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka received 2,474 calls.

These calls assisted the Police in the clearance of 136 cases, which included robbery, break and enter, theft, possession of stolen property, assault, child pornography, mischief, narcotic, and other Criminal Code and provincial statute offences.

These investigations resulted in 95 arrests, the recovery of $269,775 in stolen property and the seizure of nearly $4.8 million in illegal drugs. A total of 264 charges were laid as a result of the calls.

Since being established in 1987, the organization has received nearly 39,800 calls, leading to over 3,200 arrests and more than 5,110 cases cleared.
