Winning Christmas Cheer schools named

The challenge was simple: Which school could collect the most Christmas Cheer items (food or toys) per student this holiday season. And the response was phenomenal, as 53,181 items were collected by nine schools.

The Forest Hill Student Global Action Committee issued the Christmas Cheer Challenge to schools across the Simcoe County District School Board, and Megan McColm, challenge organizer and Forest Hill teacher, said it was an amazing success.

The winner of the challenge was Uptergrove Public School with a staggering 40,745 items.

Barrie's Holly Meadows Elementary School finished with 4,700 items, while Goodfellow Public School in Innisfil collected 1,772 items.
