Valentine's Dance planned for Feb. 14 This Saturday is the Thornton Area Action Committee's Valentine Dance at the Thornton Community Centre. Do you have your tickets? They cost just $12.50 per person and include dancing to the music from DJ Keep Them Dancing, a lunch served at 11 p.m. and door and spot dance prizes. It will be a fun evening for everyone. Call Terry at 458-9054 for tickets or information. Interested in bridge? Jean Harvey is looking to start or join a social bridge group in our area that is held during the day. Please call Jean at 458-1021 if you are interested. Thursday February 14 is the next Barrie Thornton Old Time Fiddlers Night. It will be held at the Lions Hall and the admission price is $3 per adult and children are free. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m., sharp. All fiddlers, singers, callers, dancers and listeners are welcome. Call Cec Denney for more information at 458-9996. The Thornton Women's Institute meets on Feb. 20 in the community room at the library, starting at 7:30 p.m. roll call is to read short news clipping about agriculture and the guest speaker will be Sam Squires from Alliston speaking about potatoes. All are welcome. At the Ivy Presbyterian Church there is always lots going on. The next Fighting Temptation Youth Group meeting will be held Wednesday February 13th from 6:45 until 8:00 p.m. and will have a Valentine's Day theme. The evening will consist of scrimmage, bible lessons, games, activities and snacks. |
