Driver caught on super RIDE Superbowl drinking lands man in custody A 40-year-old Innisfil man is facing charges of impaired driving and driving over 80 milligrams after he was arrested during a RIDE program on Sunday evening. Following Sunday night's Superbowl game, several officers had set up a spot check on Maple Road in Innisfil. Shortly after 11 p.m., the accused man was stopped and displayed signs of impairment. He was arrested accordingly and taken to the North Division for Breathalyzer tests, which confirmed that his blood alcohol concentration was in excess of .08 milligrams. The man was later released on a promise to appear and is facing a 90- day automatic drivers licence suspension. Man charged with impaired driving On Feb. 3, police received information from an off duty Barrie Police officer who was following an impaired driver travelling south on the 10th Sideroad in Innisfil. The vehicle had originally be spotted in the Barrie area and followed to a residence on the 10th, where members of both South Simcoe and Barrie police investigated the occupants. The adult driver was charged with impaired driving and for refusing to provide any samples of his breath. A search of that man, in accordance with the arrest, also resulted in charges of possession of a controlled substance being laid. Two arrested in Alcona On Jan. 30, a police officer observed a westbound vehicle on Innisfil Beach Road in Alcona weaving on the roadway. The vehicle was stopped and a 43-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested for impaired driving. The accused man was out of custody on bail, for breaching his 2007 probation. A 28-year-old passenger from Port McNichol identified herself with a false name to officers as she was aware an outstanding warrant for her arrest existed from the Midland area. Drinking lands man in jail On Wednesday January 30, police stopped a vehicle on Glenn Avenue in Stroud. The 49-year-old driver was found to have been drinking in breach of his bail conditions. The accused man was to appear in Bradford court on Jan. 31 for an outstanding assault charge to which his bail conditions applied. Husband allegedly assaults wife On Jan. 29th, police were contacted about a possible assault that took place between a husband and wife the night before. Police attended to a Bradford residence to investigate the allegations. During the investigation it was learned that the couple were involved in a heated argument. A 50-year-old woman was struck by the accused and then he began to choke her. He also threatened her with bodily harm during the dispute. Police arrested a 44-yearold Bradford man for assault, choking and uttering death threats. He was held for a bail hearing on Jan. 30. Man picks fight on GO bus Police were contacted by Go Transit advising they had an elderly man who appeared intoxicated and was causing a disturbance on one of their buses arriving from Toronto Jan. 29. The driver of the bus was pulling over in front of the courthouse in Bradford. Police attended and were advised that the man was arguing with passengers and the driver. A small struggle ensued between the man and one of the Go Transit supervisors just before police arrived. A 63-yearold Bradford man was charged. |
