Essa will require two parking spots for new homes
By Richard Blanchard

After a long debate with a developer in Angus over a requirement to require two exterior parking places at a new housing development, Essa council has passed a motion which will require developers in the township to have a minimum of two outside parking places at new homes.

Council and Devonleigh Homes have had a ongoing debate over the need for two exterior parking spots in a new semi-detached home. Devonleigh has maintained that the requirement is not practical with the smaller frontages with the semi-detached homes. Council has expressed fears that allowing one parking spot per house would create problems with street parking in this development.

Devonleigh will not be affected by this change as its application on the parking spaces came into effect before the change.
