Be a face in the fight against cancer The Innisfil Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society needs volunteers. Their involvement enables the Canadian Cancer Society to fund cancer research, provide information, services and to support people living with cancer. Call: 436- 1060 or 726-8032. The Canadian Mental Health Association of Barrie-Simcoe supports the development and continuance of self-help groups as a viable community resource for individuals experiencing difficulties. Self-Help groups can provide; support and understanding through difficult times; an opportunity to meet with others who have experienced similar difficulties; information and education; a safe and comfortable environment; suggestions regarding coping strategies that help to get through difficult times. Donations are needed for Music Fun Night at the Gilford United Church. If you have any old or unused music instruments like tambourines, shakers, chimes, drums or other fun instruments, call Dawn at (705) 456-2555. MONDAYS Friends of the Innisfil Library, Stroud Branch, meetings are held the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m. Gilford and District Horticultural Society meets second Monday of the month from March to November at Churchill Community Centre at 7:30pm. St Paul's Anglican Church, located on the corner of Mapleview and Yonge Street, has two new youth and young adult programs. From 6:30 - 8:00 pm will be informal musical jamming sessions for anyone with a voice or instrument. The Beta Classes will be held at the Innisfil Community Church starting January 9th at 1pm. Beta is a life changing program and the twelve week course will enable you to live free from fear, stress aniexty and the pain of past hurts and traumas. The Grange Hall in Lefroy hosts euchre beginning at 12 p.m. Every third Tuesday includes a pot luck lunch. The cost is $2, and there is a 50/50 draw as well. Both regular and bid euchre are played. WEDNESDAYS Friends of the Innisfil Library, Lakeshore Branch, meet the third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. New members are most welcome.

Euchre, bid euchre, Scrabble and cribbage is played at Alcona Seniors club every Wednesday at 11:30 to 3 p.m. at the ABC Hall on the 25th Sideroad below Innisfil Beach Rd. Refreshments and fun days. Bring a bag lunch.

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 21 The Simcoe County Quilters' Guild will meet at 1 p.m. at the ANAF Hall on George Street in Barrie. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our regularly scheduled programming has had to be cancelled. Please join us for our mystery program, as the executive is sure to use their creative talents to provide an afternoon of fun and fellowship. SATURDAY FEBRUARY 23 The Essa Historical Society meets at the Thornton Library, located on Robert Street, starting at 1:30 p.m. Guest speaker is Henry Jones from Roadshow Antiques at the 400 Market. Topic is antique appraisals and roll call is pioneer post offices. All are welcome to attend.

A cowboy dinner costume party will take place at the Masonic Lodge in Stroud, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is $15 per person. The lodge is located at 2156 Victoria Street. TUESDAY FEBRUARY 26 The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority, along with its partners, will present new grants for landowners to protect our drinking water. This free event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tiffin Centre, 8195 8th Line, Utopia. Complimentary refreshments will be served. Monthly Fiddle Dance and Jam Session for the Bond Head Olde Tyme Fiddle Club. All musicians, dancers and listeners are welcome to attend. The Thornton Ball Hockey League will be holding their Spring/Summer registration for men, ladies and children at the Thornton Arena from 10 a.m. until noon. FRIDAY MARCH 7 Shabbat Across Canada will be held at the Am Shalom Synagogue. Celebrate a Shabbat evening with other Jews across the country. A special service and dinner will take place. SATURDAY MARCH 8 The Innisfil Lionesses are hosting a fundraiser for 16- year-old Krysta Rossit, who suffers from a congenital condition called C-ACC. As a result of the condition, the left and right sides of Rossit's brain are not attached, and she requires a service dog. The event will be called 4 Paws 4 Krysta Euchre, and will take place at the Innisfil Lions Hall, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 per person, and will include a buffet and prizes. For more information, call Debbie at 436-1256. FRIDAY MARCH 21 In Search of Jesus, an outdoor family adventure, will take place at New Life Church on Yonge Street. Walk back in time and experience the first Easter. Free tours begin at 9 a.m. All visitors must park at Sunset Speedway. For more information, or to book a tour, call 436-5413. WEDNESDAY MARCH 26 A cancer society tea will be held at The Wheel in Sandy Cove Acres from 2 to 4 p.m. The Glee Club will entertain, and there will be a video on cures for cancer presented. Tea, coffee and sweet treats will be available. Admission is $4, with proceeds being donated to cancer research. SATURDAY MARCH 29 The Grange Cafe will feature Poor Tom, a music group influenced by Celtic, folk, bluegrass and country roots, classic rock and classical music, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The evening will also include coffee, tea and snacks. The Royal Canadian Legion's ladies auxiliary are hosting their annual Chili Cook-Off from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring a pot of chili and let the public decide who is the best, or come get a bowl, bun, water and ballot for $5.
