Hop to the library for Easter The signs of spring are everywhere. Wiarton Willie saw his shadow, the first official day of spring and Easter will be here in a few weeks, the gardening books are starting to leave the library and March Break is upon us. The Innisfil Public Library has a wide variety of March programs to help you leap into spring. Join us for our annual egg hunt. Hop through the library to find eggs and take part in games and activities. There will be goodie bags for all and you may even win the grand prize. Sign up today at your local branch. The cost is $2. The event will take place in Cookstown March 8 from 11 a.m. to noon, and at the Lakeshore branch March 15 from 11 a.m. to noon for ages five and under, and 1 to 2 p.m. for ages six to 12. The Stroud and Churchill branches will also host hunts March 15 from 11 a.m. to noon (all ages). Bunnies from Warren Baguley's The Rabbit Hutch will be visiting the Lakeshore and Stroud branches. Come spend some time with these adorable creatures. This free program is for children of all ages. The Lakeshore event will take place Thursday March 20, at 6:30 p.m., while the Stroud show will happen Wednesday March 19 at 6:30 p.m. March Break Madness will keep your children entertained March 11 to 15. Registration begins Feb. 26th. Dance Madness: Learn to dance like your favourite stars in this hour of dance instruction. This is for kids aged six to 12, the cost is $5. This even takes place at the Churchill and Lakeshore branches March 12, at 1:30 and 4 p.m. respectively. One Tip at a Time! Please join Heather Watson- Augustus, early literacy specialist with the Ontario Early Years Centres in Simcoe County, to help your children start off on the right foot towards a lifetime of reading success. This is an entirely interactive workshop where we explore 10 of the most important things that you can do to make sure that your children do not struggle with reading later on. We will have 10 stations set up for you and your children to enjoy while learning. The event is for ages six and younger. It is free, and will take place at the Cookstown branch March 12 at 10:30 a.m. Skulls: Come and learn all about these intriguing objects in an interactive, fun filled hour at the Lakeshore branch. This event is for children ages six to 12, and the cost is $2. It takes place March 13 at 10:30 a.m. Puppet show: Two classic folk tales told by puppets. Find out what Anansi the Spider has been up to this March Break and watch as the Three Billy Goats Gruff out smart the grumpy troll. An action packed show guaranteed to have the whole family laughing, the cost is $2 to attend. This is an all ages show, and will take place in Cookstown March 11 at 3:30 p.m., Stroud March 13 at 1:30 p.m., and Lakeshore March 14 at 1:30 p.m. Dance, Dance Revolution: Come to the Lakeshore branch and show off your DDR moves. You can practice Tuesday, Wednesday and join in the tournament on Thursday. This event is for ages six and up. The tournament will cost $1 to participate. Practice times are from 12 to 1 p.m. The tournament takes place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Mad Science: Bubbles, bubbles everywhere as kids explore the science of states of matter, and particularly the wonderful things that you can do with frozen kid breath. See the great big burp, feel the fog, taste the burp gas - a great experience for all senses. This is for kids ages three to five, and admission is $5. The event will take place at the Lakeshore and Stroud branches March 14, at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively. Movies: Admission for movies is $2 per child, with snacks costing $1. Alvin and the Chipmunks will play at the Lakeshore branch March 8 and 11 at 1 and 6 p.m. respectively. The Stroud branch will play the movie March 8 at 1 p.m., Cookstown will play March 12 at 1 p.m., and Churchill's screening will take place March 13 at 1 p.m. The Water Horse will play at the Lakeshore branch March 12 at 6 p.m. Thief Lord will play at the Lakeshore branch March 13 at 6 p.m., and the Churchill branch March 15 at 1 p.m. Visit the Innisfil Public Library's website at www.innisfil.library.on.ca for more information, or drop into any one of our four branches.
