Egging it up at the library
By Chris Simon

Eggs and bunnies were in high demand at the Cookstown branch of the Innisfil Public Library Saturday morning.

About 10 children participated in the library's annual Egg Hunt, which also included spoon races, bag decorating and games of hot potato and pin the tail on the bunny. The event provided a fun and lighthearted beginning to the March Break for kids, said librarian Susan Baues.

"The library is a fun place. Certainly, it's about information and resources, but it's more than that," she said.

"We're also a place of entertainment."

During the hunt, children were asked to find coloured plastic eggs, which were hidden throughout the library's kids section. When each child found three eggs, they were presented with a package containing chocolate and an assortment of other goodies.

Baues says events like the hunt help promote the library.

"Things like this really help promote a sense of community and include the library as an integral part of the community," she said. "It's a way of drawing in people who perhaps wouldn't normally come into the library, but are attracted to a program."

About 10 children participated in the Innisfil Public Library's annual Egg Hunt, which took place at the Cookstown branch Saturday. Kids played several games, raced and decorated bags, in addition to the hunt. Eight-year-old Alicia Clapperton, bottom right, won a gift basket full of treats, after she found a plastic egg with a star in it. The other library branches will host hunts March 15.
The Lakeshore, Stroud and Churchill branches will host their hunts March 15. The Lakeshore branch will host an event for children under five years old from 11 a.m. to noon, while ages six to 12 can attend a hunt from 1 to 2 p.m. The Stroud and Churchill branches will host all ages hunts from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Admission is $2 per child.

However, there are several other March Break events taking place at the library branches over the next few days. For more information, visit www.innisfil.library.on.ca.
