Man falls asleep behind the wheel

On March 7, South Simcoe Police responded to a citizens concerns regarding a vehicle parked on a roadway.

Police attended the area of Concession Road 10 west of County Road 4 in Innisfil and discovered a motor vehicle parked, running and partially obstructing westbound traffic. A man was observed slumped over in the drivers seat. The man was awakened and after speaking to the officer was arrested for impaired care and control of a motor vehicle.

The accused, a 27-yearold Innisfil man, was transported to the North Division station, where he provided breath samples. He was subsequently charged with over 80 milligrams. The man was released to his mother and now has a 90 day licence suspension and a court date in Bradford on April 10.

Man charged with racing vehicle

On Friday, a police officer was conducting stationary radar on the 25th Sideroad at Concession Road 10 in Innisfil.

A northbound vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the stationary radar and recorded the speed of the vehicle to be in excess of 100 kilometres per hour in a posted 50 zone. The driver of the motor vehicle was identified as a 27-year-old Innisfil man. The driver was given a provincial offences summons for race a motor vehicle. He was also given a seven day drivers licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded, as a result of travelling in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Woman assaults vehicle driver

On Friday, a police officer was on patrol and stopped his vehicle at Holland Street East and Simcoe Road in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

While stopped at the intersection, the officer observed a motor vehicle make a left hand turn at the intersection. A pedestrian walking in the intersection didn't feel that the motor vehicle afforded her room to pass and as the vehicle passed, she struck the vehicle with her hand.

The woman then began yelling obscenities at the driver and reached inside the open window of the vehicle and struck the driver on the face. A 44-year-old Bradford woman was arrested for assault. She was released from custody and has a court date in Bradford April 17.

Man threatens common law wife

On March 4, police received a complaint from a woman that her common law spouse had threatened to shoot her.

An investigation revealed the couple had been arguing earlier in the morning before the man left for work. He had threatened her at that time. Police located the man at his residence later in the day and arrested him for uttering threats. The man, a 59-year-old Bradford resident, was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing on March 5.

Careless driver charged

Police have charged a 47- year-old Innisfil man with careless driving after an incident that occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m. on March 5.

Officers received a report from a citizen of a possible impaired driver travelling west on Concession 4 in Innisfil, then south on County Road 27. The vehicle and driver were eventually located in Cookstown. The driver was found to be sober. He was charged accordingly for his erratic driving.

Break and enter suspect sought

Police are investigating a break-in at a Bradford West Gwillimbury business that occurred in the early morning hours of March 5.

A door to the premises was forced open and the culprit broke through the drywall of several other walls to gain entry into the office. Nothing appears to have been taken, but police are continuing their investigation.

Woman caught drunk, CAS called

On Friday, police received a report of a possible impaired driver at a gas station in Bradford.

The suspect vehicle was located by police and the driver, a 45-year-old Roseheath woman, was arrested for impaired care and control of a motor vehicle. The accused was in the company of her 7-yearold twins, who were improperly secured in booster seats in the vehicle. The accused was transported to the North Division station, where her blood alcohol level registered at two times the legal limt. The accused was further charged with driving under suspension.

The Children's Aid Society was notified as a result of this incident and the woman was released with a court date in Bradford April 10.

Man crashes car during erratic driving spree

On Sunday, police received information of a vehicle being driven erratically on Concession Road 10 in Innisfil.

The vehicle crossed over the centre line on numerous occasions, causing oncoming traffic to take evasive action. The vehicle continued into Stroud, where it made no attempt to stop at a clearly posted stop sign. The vehicle pulled into a plaza parking lot, and the driver went into a store. Upon pulling out of a parking space, the vehicle struck another vehicle. Police arrived on scene and arrested the driver, who was showing signs of impairment. Upon being searched, the driver was found to be in possession of a controlled substance (marijuana and hashish). Police have charged a 40- year-old Innisfil man with dangerous driving, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
