Three Thornton girls know how to dance Recently, dance exams were held at the Positive Step Dance Academy in Cookstown for students taking jazz and tap. Three Thornton girls, Emily Miller and Catherine and Amy Alksnis spent many hours perfecting their dance steps to take the exams. All three girls passed with flying colours and have all moved up to the next dance levels in both jazz and tap dancing. Congratulations girls, your hard work paid off! On March 23 the Thornton Chapter of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) celebrated their 26th anniversary as a group. Their goals are to help members lose weight sensibly and make wise life style changes to keep the weight off. It is an affordable alternative to the often quick fix and costly programs that are offered elsewhere. If you are tired of diet programs that haven't worked, perhaps you'll want to give them a try. Meetings are held every Tuesday evening from 6:45 until 8 p.m. at the Thornton library. For more information, call 424-9433 or 458-0937. Thornton TOPS elected their new executive recently with the following results; leader Yvonne Sauve, co-leader Karen Bradley, treasurer Bonnie Sander, secretary Monica Busato, weight recorder Elaine Hitchman and weight recorder assistant Joan McGean. If you have any news, announcements, or coming events, you can e-mail me at thorntonnews@rogers.com; call 458-0869 or drop it off at 25 Robert Street. Bye for now. |
