Couple treated following fire

An elderly couple was treated for burns and smoke inhalation following a fire at their home near Bond Head March 19.

In the early morning hours, South Simcoe Police Service and the Bradford Fire Service responded to a house fire on County Road 88. The couple had located the fire and attempted to extinguish it.

The fire forced the closure of 88 from County Road 27 to the 5th Sideroad in Bradford.

Several school buses travelling to Sir William Osler Public School were detoured by the road closure.

The Ontario Fire Marshall's Office attended the scene and is currently investigating the incident.

Man smashes windows with hammer

On Friday March 21, South Simcoe Police responded to a Gordon Street residence regarding a man smashing windows with a hammer.

The man left the residence and smashed windows of cars parked on the street. The man was located by police and arrested. An 18-year-old Innisfil man has been charged with mischief under $5,000, weapons dangerous, and fail to comply with an undertaking from an earlier charge. The man is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Drunk man caught walking down middle of road

On Friday March 21, police located an intoxicated man walking in the middle of Holland Street in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The man was on an earlier judicial release with a condition to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. Police have charged a 54- year-old Beeton man with fail to comply with judicial release, and public intoxication.

Snowblower stolen from business

On Thursday March 20, between the hours of 6 and 10 p.m., unknown people removed a snowblower from a business located on Commerce Park Drive in Innisfil.

The property taken is a Troy-Bilt snowblower, with 13 horsepower. The snowblower is 43 inches wide and red in colour. The investigation is continuing.

Drugs found in car On March 22, a police officer was on routine patrol when he stopped a motor vehicle in Innisfil.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer observed drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Innisfil man, was subsequently arrested. The man has already been released from police custody on charges of a similar nature. He was also charged with breach of undertaking and held for a bail hearing

Three businesses broken into

Police are investigating three break and enters to two restaurants and one coffee shop.

The businesses are located in the Bradford and Cookstown area. The break and enters occurred during the night of Tuesday March 18. In all three incidents, the culprits attempted to break into an ATM money machine. It appears the culprits were unsuccessful in obtaining cash. The investigation continues.

Gasoline taken from farm

Police are investigating the theft of gasoline from a Bradford farm.

Sometime during the night of Monday March 17, a culprit entered the farmer's barn, and stole approximately 20 litres of gasoline. No other property was stolen.

Truck taken from driveway

Police are investigating the theft of a grey 1989 Ford pick-up truck.

Sometime during the night of Monday, March 17, a suspect stole the truck. The truck was last seen parked in the victim's driveway, located in Bradford.

Sunglasses and eyeglasses taken from vehicle

Police are investigating the theft of sunglasses and prescription eyeglasses, which were stolen from a parked vehicle.

During the early evening hours of Tuesday March 18, a culprit broke into a parked vehicle in Alcona and stole thousands of dollars worth of designer sunglasses and prescription eyeglasses.

Domestic assault reported

On Sunday March 23rd, police responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance at a residence in Bradford.

Investigating officers learned that a 40-year-old woman had assaulted her 14-year-old son, resulting in the mother being arrested. The accused was transported to a police station where she was later released on a promise to appear.

Woman stabbed in face

On Monday, March 24th, police received a call from a resident in Alcona advising that a woman had been stabbed in the face. An argument took place between a father and son inlaw in the residence. A woman stepped in to breakup the altercation and was stabbed. The victim was transported to Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, where she received numerous stitches. A 57-year-old Innisfil man was arrested and charged with assault cause codily harm and assault with a weapon. The 30-year-old victim, from Orillia, was released from hospital.

The accused was held for a bail hearing. The investigation is continuing with more charges pending.
