Essa council approves raise

      Essa council has approved a three per cent pay increase for itself and for staff working for the township. During a recent budget session, council agreed to increase all township salaries retroactive to January 1 of this year. The increase is roughly equivalent to the cost of living increase.

Essa flood waters recede

      The problems with flooding in Essa township had passed by the end of last week according to the township's fire chief Paul Macdonald. Macdonald said Tuesday that the worst days for flooding were on Tuesday, April 1 which saw at least two homes and the Angus plaza flooded.
