Old Duffers sponsor Lefroy hockey player

A hockey team and restaurant joined up to sponsor a budding player.

The Old Duffers of the Lefroy Men's Hockey League, which were sponsored by The Earl of Alcona, donated $400 to a young hockey player earlier this season. The money allowed the player to participate in the Lefroy Minor Hockey Association's program this year. The money was raised at a golf tournament for the men's league team, said team member Russ Evans.

"(We) donate funds to various community organizations when asked and when the funds are available. The amount donated helped a young man play hockey this year."

Minor hockey association treasurer Tina Deroy was pleased with the donation.

"Lefroy minor hockey would like to acknowledge and thank The Old Duffers for their donation," she said. "Thanks to (them), another child will enjoy the hockey experience."
