There was plenty of flower power at The Grange Hall Saturday.

Over 50 people attended the Lefroy United Church's annual Tulip Tea last weekend. Patrons were served tea and beverages, along with sweets and sandwiches. Bake and craft tables were on display, while those in attendance also received a candle from the church. Money raised from the tea will be used to support various charitable organizations like the David Busby Street Centre, Salvation Army, food bank, a school in Africa, and funding to send children to summer camp, said organizer Diana Dickson.

"It's just a fundraiser; all the money goes to outreach," she said.

However, the event also gives local residents an opportunity to socialize in a comfortable and relaxed setting.

"It was a small group that started it. Now they've all retired and the church has taken it over," said Dickson.

Jean Jeffrey, one of the tea's original organizers, is glad to see it thrive. Residents have continued to support the tea, more than 10 years after it was created.

"It's a community thing, people get together who haven't seen each other for awhile," she said. "They sit and talk. It's just a thing to get people together."

The church also hosts a Victorian tea in November, said Dickson."
