The key to a successful marriage is compromise.
That's according to Frank Zeilke, a bit of an expert on the subject. Frank has been married to his wife Jean for the last 50 years.
Although the couple has experienced adversity at times, they've pulled through with a stronger bond and more dedication to each other.
"Cooperation and compromise (are) naturally the key," said Frank, Jean sitting by his side. "There's no sense in fighting, so you compromise. That's the best way to do it."
Frank and Jean celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with about 50 friends, family, well wishers and dignitaries at the Churchill Community Centre Saturday. Friends shook hands with Frank and kissed Jean on the cheek, signs of respect and fondness for the couple.
And they've got a tidbit of advice for younger couples.
"Listen to each other," said Jean.
"We've had a few ups and downs with Frank's health, but every thing's happy; we're very happy that we're still together."
Jean says the couple, which has several children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, has enjoyed the company of family more than anything else over the last half-century.
"It's hard to say (our best memories), but our kids growing up, and then your grandchildren," she said. "Now, we're enjoying our great grandchildren."
