RVH CEO tops Simcoe County's century club The highest paid public sector employee in Simcoe County in 2007 was Janice Skot, CEO of Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, at $275,000 and she was joined by 19 others at RVH in the $100,000 plus club. It is an ever expanding club because the legislation on the disclosure of salaries does not adjust for inflation. The Simcoe-Muskoka Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Charles Gardner, at $197,000, led eight staffers at the Health Unit in the club. Dan Carriere, president of Southlake hospital in Newmarket, led a long list at $423,000 plus $102,000 in other benefits. Gary Ryan, Southlake vice-president and interim chief at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston, was paid $172,000 plus about $26,000 in other benefits. Ex-officers at SMH on the century club include, CEO Ed Takas at $155,000, vice-president Susan Plewes at $118,000 and CFO Steve Miller at $112,000. Director of Education Gord Campbell led a long list Simcoe County District School Board employees at $178,000. Likewise, Michael O'Keefe, Director of Education at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, topped a long list there at $181,000. Brian Tamblyn, CEO of Georgian College, topped the list there at $178,000. Municipally, lists were a lot shorter. Mark Aitken, CEO of Simcoe County, topped a list of 22 at $190,000. In New Tecumseth, CAO Terri Caron earned $153,000 including taxable benefits and deputy CAO Brendan Holly came in at $128,000, including taxable benefits, were the only ones on the list. In Bradford West Gwillimbury, CAO James Currier led a list of just five at $170,000. In Innisfil, which included South Simcoe Police, chief Brian Davis topped the list of 14 at $158,000. No one from Adjala- Tosorontio or Essa townships were on the list. |
