Stevenson auxiliary given $15,000 cheque
By Florence Blanchard

Stevenson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held its March meeting in the conference room.

President Beryl Burroughs welcomed all and the meeting was opened with the Auxiliary Prayer.

We remembered two of our departed members, Janet McCague and Dorothy Cooney whose funerals were held Easter week.

Recording Secretary Betty Beaven distributed the previous meeting's minutes and they were approved as read.

Corresponding secretary Muriel Riddell sent out just one card during the past month. Treasurer Linda Doucette sent in her report and Beryl read this to the meeting.

Audrey Mawdsley gave the report for the gift shop and it is doing well with many attractive things to sell.

Mary McCutcheon presented a cheque for $15,000 to the auxiliary. In June, the gift shop gave us $8,000 and in October, we had another cheque for $7,000 so in total, the shop has raised $30,000.

Our bazaar will be held on Saturday October 26.

Lucky draw tickets will be sold at the Home Show on April 11, 12 and 13 at the new arena in Alliston. On April 26, we will sell them at the Gibson Centre.

We now have 196 members and we already have renewed their membership. Our Tag Day is May 23 and convenor Eleanor Storozuk needs many volunteers.

Convenors for the bazaar and the Tree of Lights are also needed.

The Region 3 conference for hospital auxiliaries will be held at Tanglewood Creek on Wednesday April 16.

The manager of human resources, Karen Maisonneuve, spoke to our group about her work. She explained all the changes regarding office space and the second third floors of the Mary McGill centre will be used.

Our hospital is stretched to the limit and this is most obvious when you enter the front foyer.
