Buttle to be honoured

Simcoe County should do more to honour its residents when they achieve international success according to Essa township mayor Dave Guergis.

Guergis urged county councillors last week to invite international figure skating champion Jeff Buttle to a future meeting of county council and present him with a recognition of his achievement.

"We have county residents who distinguish themselves in the world and then we should be recognizing them," said Guergis.

Buttle won the male world figure skating championship last month in Sweden.

The 25 year old has been a long time member of the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie.
