Essa Township insurance set to drop for second straight year
By Richard Blanchard

For the second year in a row, Essa Township will be paying less for its insurance coverage.

Council accepted a proposal from the Frank Cowan Company, which will provide the township's property and liability insurance at a cost of $216,326.

Last year's premium was $222,486, so the township will be paying 2.77 per cent less.

The township's insurance coverage has skyrocketed since 2001. Combined with this year's premium, the coverage has jumped 75 per cent since 2003.

The premium covers property worth nearly $20.8 million.
