No one steering the ship on Innisfil council

After reading your April 16th copy of The Scope I finally have decided to write this letter.

Several things have occurred and continue to occur in our Innisfil that really make you wonder who, if anyone, is steering the ship.

First, there's the continued mess of the Innisfil Recreation Complex, continued delays, and really a poorly run flagship construction project for the town.

Secondly, there are problems with roads, potholes, lack of sidewalks on the main drag and lack of good night lighting for safety.

Why do we debate every last thing and nothing ever gets built? GO Transit station, new grocery stores and anything really anyone wants to build gets debated until it dies.

The main fire hall in Alcona, the most essential emergency service, and it is the furthest away. Have you ever seen that fire truck trying to get down Innisfil Beach Road on a Saturday while on a call?

Six new sub divisions are under construction, yet the Wallace Mills project by Maple Lane is nine years in the making. Can we not finish one subdivision before the next?

And lastly, the one that really hit home was Brenda Wauchope's comment about her opposition to building townhouses near her property, and the fact it could lower her property value.

It seems it is fine to build townhouses everywhere else in Alcona except near the deputy mayor's house. Let's hope the decision makers on council can put there heads together in there comfy New Town Hall that was built on time, and make the right decisions for once.
Rob Mackay,
Innisfil
