Trucks involved in collision and impaired driver caught by police Man gives police officer false identity On April 21 at approximately 12:35 p.m., a plain clothes South Simcoe Police officer observed a man walking along Britannia Avenue in Bradford with a case of beer in one hand and an open bottlle of beer in the other. When the officer stopped to investigate, he discovered the man was intoxicated. The man identified himself verbally to the officer when questioned about his identity. The officer arrested the man for public intoxication, and while searching him, he located his driver's licence on him with a different name. Further investigation revealed that the man had originally provided a false name to the officer and was on bail with a condition that he abstain from the consumption or possession of alcohol. The man, a 26-year-old Barrie resident, was charged with breach of recognizance and obstructing police and held for a bail hearing. Teen charged after domestic dispute Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old Innisfil man for assault after receiving a complaint from his girlfriend that she had been assaulted several days earlier after she broke off their relationship. An investigation revealed that on April 11, the victim called the suspect on the phone and broke off their relationship. The suspect then showed up at a party where the victim was located and a confrontation occurred. During the altercation, the woman was assaulted. The man was charged accordingly and will appear in court in May to answer to the charge. Two pick-up trucks collide On April 14 at approximately 5:15 p.m. police were called to a motor vehicle collision on St. John's Road in Innisfil. An investigation revealed that a grey 2008 Ford pickup was travelling north on St. John's when it crossed the center line and struck a green 2007 Ford pick-up that was travelling south bound. The driver of the green pick-up received minor injuries, but was not transported to hospital. The driver of the grey pick up, a 50-year-old Innisfil man, was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. Home break-in reported Police are investigating a break-in to a Roberts Road, Alcona residence overnight April 18. The resident reported a rear door was left unlocked overnight. Someone entered the home and stole several small electric and hand tools valued at about $2,000. Barrie man caught driving impaired At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a police officer observed a vehicle in the area of Yonge Street and Mapleview Drive squealing tires and excessively revving its engine. When stopped by police, the driver, a 26-year-old Barrie man, was found to be impaired and was arrested. He provided breath samples almost three times over the legal .08 limit. The man was charged with impaired driving and driving over the legal limit. Truck stolen from Bradford property Police are investigating the theft of a pick-up truck from a property on Holland Street West in Bradford. The vehicle was taken between 6 p.m. on April 8 and 9 a.m. on April 9. The vehicle is described as a 1996 Ford F150 pick-up truck, dark blue in colour, bearing Ontario licence plate number 629 0VS. Meat processing business broken into Police are investigating a break and enter to a meat processing business on Concession Road 14 in Innisfil. The entry occurred sometime between 8:30 p.m. April 9 and 6 a.m. April 10. A front door was pried open and once inside the suspect pried open various interior doors. A small white safe containing boxes of explosive stun gun ammunition was taken, along with a meat inspectors office stamp labelled Ontario Approved PLT 156. The investigation is continuing. |
