Helping to conquer cancer

A bike day will be held for all school-aged children in the parking lot of Simcoe Childcare Services April 25.

The event will take place during a professional activity day for both the Simcoe County and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic district school boards.

Children can bring their bikes, while helmets are mandatory. They will be allowed to ride around the parking lot of the childcare centre, located on the 25th Sideroad, and participate in an obstacle course and various challenges.

The event will attempt to raise money for childcare services director Kim Yeaman's entrance into the Princess Margaret Hospital's Ride to Conquer Cancer. The two day bike ride will stretch 200-kilometres, from Toronto to Niagara Falls.

Yeaman needs to earn at least $2,500 to enter the ride. Donations can be made by cash or cheque. Donations of $10 or more are eligible for a tax receipt, said Yeaman.

"The bike day is our way of participating and we will be accepting donations," she said. "The fun is for everyone. Every child will have the opportunity to participate."

As a result of the event, the centre's parking lot will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For more information, contact the centre at 431- 2407.
