Heritage committee chair resigns
By Chris Simon

The chair of Innisfil's heritage committee has resigned.

A town committee accepted the resignation of Municipal Heritage Committee chair Rob Rymell during a meeting last week.

Rymell says he was forced to resign for workrelated reasons.

"Due to the substantial increase in our firm's work load, as well as personal commitments, I am faced with having to resign from the committee effective immediately," he said in a statement. "It has been a pleasure working in this capacity."

Rymell says he will be available to committee members as a resource, if needed.

The resignation comes as the committee is preparing a list of at least 31 sites of historical significance throughout the town.

There has also been controversy over the recent demolition of the Ness- Adair century home in Alcona, and the potential destruction of the Roderick McConkey homestead, which is located across the road. The McConkey homestead is expected to be sold to developers by June, and is not currently listed as a heritage building.
