There was a ring on the finger of most ladies entering the Grange Hall in Lefroy Saturday.
Lefroy United Church hosted a bridal and fashion show at the hall during the weekend. About 14 vendors showcased various wedding products such as cakes, dresses and decorations. That evening, the vintage bridal wear fashion show took place, featuring dresses from the last 70 years, said organizer Andrea Simpson.
"We've opened it up to the community to come in," she said.
"We've got gowns from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s through the ages, all the different styles."
Simpson says the show could become an annual event. Although attendance was a little less than anticipated, organizers hope the event will grow.
"It's our first year," she said. "There's nothing like this in Innisfil ... we're also trying to promote the church."
The show was unique to the area. Although bridal events regularly take place in Barrie and Alliston, there is nothing held specifically for weddings in Innisfil, said Simpson.
"There's the Nottawasaga (Inn), Barrie and Newmarket, but there's nothing like this in Innisfil, and I wanted something for the local people to be able to promote their businesses."
The show also gives local merchants the opportunity to display their wedding items, and talk to interested patrons. Most of the vendors owned local businesses, said Simpson.
"We tried to keep it local, but we also had some (vendors) from other areas come and sell their wares and promote their businesses," she said.
