Collision in King sends Innisfil woman to hospital

The York Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Township of King.

On Monday April 21 at about 7:40 a.m., a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier, travelling eastbound on Highway 11, crossed into oncoming westbound traffic and collided head-on with a westbound 1999 Volkswagen Jetta.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 21-year-old Innisfil woman, was airlifted to hospital with lifethreatening injuries.

The driver of the Jetta, a 46-year-old Georgina man, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

York police are urging drivers to be responsible. Although the weather has been good and the roads are clear, drivers are reminded to slow down and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destination.

Wear a seatbelt properly at all times when in a vehicle, and ensure any children are properly secured.

Concentrate on the road and avoid distractions. Violations of these safety tips put other road users at risk.

Investigators are seeking witnesses to this collision. Anyone with information is being asked to contact the York Region traffic bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7703, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
