Goodfellow learning life lessons

The Grade 8 students at Goodfellow Public School are learning about life lessons, goal setting and technology during their current literacy unit.

Earlier this week, author and motivational speaker Jeffrey Moore spoke about the importance of developing a life plan and understanding the domino effect of choices at Goodfellow. In the weeks after the presentation, the Grade 8 students will be reading selected chapters of Moore's book entitled Twenty Something in the Twenty Somethings, and completing reading responses. During May, students at Goodfellow will link virtually through video conference with students at Nantyr Shores Secondary School, for an online book club discussion about the issues and themes presented in the readings.

"We are excited to bring this learning opportunity to our students," said Jennifer Calabretta, Grade 8 teacher at Goodfellow. "It offers them the chance to learn valuable life lessons while engaging in virtual spaces that match their current technological interests. This project addresses curriculum elements in reading, writing, oral and visual communications and media all in one while supporting our school's Commit to Character initiative."
