Create a quilt for Hospice Simcoe in Kozlov Centre May 31

Betty Matos of Hospice Simcoe knows that quilter's have big hearts and that if the given the right opportunity, they would quickly join forces to support Hospice Simcoe's goal of expanding the circle of care with the building of the residential facility in Barrie and expansion of programs and services.

That opportunity has been created with the Works of Heart quilter's competition being held May 31 at the Kozlov Centre in Barrie.

Matos enlisted the help of the sewing experts at L A Sewing Group, located at the Kozlov Centre, to bring this vision to reality.

L A will provide the cutting stations with Olfa mats and cutter, and oversee registration for the event along with providing the grand prize - a $200 basket of quilting tools and notions.

Each competitor will be given a workstation complete with a sewing machine, cutting area with mat, cutter and rulers, and access to a pressing station. They will be given a choice of four fat eighths from a selection of cottons and threads. Plus, they'll choose from a box of odds and sods.

The entry fee is $15, and will be donated to Hospice Simcoe. Entry deadline is May 29 at 6 p.m.

For more information or to register, contact L A at 722-5885.
