Old Time Fiddlers take to stage Thursday night
THORNTON NEWS
by Cathie Miller

Tomorrow, Thursday May 8, is the next Barrie Thornton Old Time Fiddlers Night. It will be held at the Lions Hall and the admission price is $3 per adult, while children are free. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. sharp. All fiddlers, singers, callers, dancers and listeners are welcome. Call Cec Denney for more information at 458-9996.

The Thornton Area Action Committee will be holding a garage sale on May 16 and 17. Donated items are needed to make this sale a success. Call Willy at 458-9290 to donate. Proceeds from the garage sale will benefit the Thornton library and other community projects.

Ivy Minor Baseball still has room on several of their teams for some hardball players. The Bantam team is for 14 to 15 years old and the Midget team is for 16 to 18 years old. For more information, call Charlene at 739-9226.

The Dream Auction held at Trinity United Church was another great success. They would like to thank everyone who came out to the auction; your support is greatly appreciated. For those who follow the auction, Willy's homemade raison bread went for $25 per loaf this year. Thanks also go out to everyone who made a donation, to those who helped set up and to those who collected the donations, and to Barb, Brandon and Jeff. Without all of you the auction couldn't happen.

If you have any news, announcements, or coming events, you can e-mail me at thorntonnews@rogers.com, call 458-0869 or drop it off at 25 Robert Street. Bye for now.
