Break-ins throughout area Youth home staff threatened South Simcoe Police have charged a 15-year-old with uttering threats and fail to comply with an undertaking. Police were called to a youth facility on the 5th Sideroad in Bradford West Gwillimbury May 11. The youth became outraged after being told to return to his room, and he threatened to harm the facility workers. The youth was on conditions to abide by the rules of the residence, which he failed to comply with. The youth was being detained in custody pending a bail hearing at Barrie youth court May 12. Driver caught with cannabis On Thursday May 8 at about 11:35 p.m. South Simcoe Police received a report of an impaired driver travelling eastbound on Canal Road in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. Police located the vehicle as it pulled into a residence in Bradford. The driver was discovered to be impaired and was arrested. A search of the vehicle revealed a small quantity of suspected marijuana. The driver was transported to the police station, where he failed a breath test. A 48-year-old Bradford man was charged with impaired operation, over 80 milligrams and possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court in June to answer the charges. Bradford restaurant broken into Police are investigating a break-in at a Bradford restaurant that occurred sometime overnight between May 7 and 8. Entry to the Holland Street East restaurant was gained from the rear of the premises, and a quantity of cash and liquor was removed. Copper piping stripped from home On May 8, police were called to a residence on the 5th Line of Innisfil for a report of a break and enter. An investigation revealed that entry had been gained to the premises and it had been stripped of its copper piping. The residence was vacant at the time. Angus woman charged with extortion Police have charged a 26- year-old Angus woman with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking and two counts of extortion. In April 2008, police investigated the woman, who was on conditions to abstain from communicating with and going to the residence of her ex-husband. During this time, the woman attempted to obtain cash from her ex-husband by threatening to report false allegations to the police in exchange for an amount of cash. The woman turned herself in to police on May 12, and she was scheduled for a bail hearing. Conveyor belt wrecked during break-in Sometime between May 9 and 12, unknown suspects gained entry to a business on Dissette Street in Bradford. Entry was gained by forcing open a south side door. Once inside, the suspects emptied a fire extinguisher, spread tar across various walls, and took fork lifts for a ride, causing damage to a conveyor belt. |
