You can help change this statistic by joining the Canadian Cancer Society as a volunteer canvasser for our annual door to door campaign. Volunteers are needed in Alcona, Big Bay Point and Lefroy. The Canadian Mental Health Association of Barrie-Simcoe supports the development and continuance of self-help groups as a viable community resource for individuals experiencing difficulties. Self-Help groups can provide; support and understanding through difficult times; an opportunity to meet with others who have experienced similar difficulties; information and education; a safe and comfortable environment; suggestions regarding coping strategies that help to get through difficult times. Good Food Simcoe is a nonprofit organization bringing the Good Food Box to Innisfil. The box consists of an assortment of fruits and vegetables, much of which is grown locally. The cost is $10 for a small box and $15 for a large box. Orders must be pre-paid in cash and picked-up on the delivery day. They also need volunteers on packing day. The choir of St. James United Church in Stroud will be presenting a Christmas cantata, The Wondrous Story, at 3 p.m. It will be followed by a pot luck dinner. Bring your own plates and cutlery. THURSDAY DECEMBER 11 Barrie Thornton Old Time Fiddlers Night will take place at the Lions Hall on Barrie Street in Thornton. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $3 per person and children are free. All fiddlers, singers, callers, dancers and listeners are welcome.
