What a wonderful evening we had at Royal Canadian Legion branch 547 in Belle Ewart Saturday, as we celebrated the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scotland's national poet, Robbie Burns. Master of ceremonies, Bill Van Berkel, started off the evening by introducing branch president Bill Pring, who gave a very short welcoming address. More ... In case you have been looking for news of the annual Valentine's Dance held by the Thornton Area Action Committee, the dates have changed. It is now the Spring Fling Dance, and this year it will be held on April 18 beginning at 8 p.m. Watch this column for more details, once the date gets closer. More ... It has been an exciting week since the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States. It was great to see so much interest in the election and the democratic process.
