Get out and walk your block this April. Two out of five Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. You can help change this statistic by joining the Canadian Cancer Society as a volunteer canvasser for our annual door to door campaign. Volunteers are needed in Alcona, Big Bay Point and Lefroy. For more information, call Andrew at 436-3107. The Canadian Mental Health Association of Barrie-Simcoe supports the development and continuance of self-help groups as a viable community resource for individuals experiencing difficulties. Self-Help groups can provide; support and understanding through difficult times; an opportunity to meet with others who have experienced similar difficulties; information and education; a safe and comfortable environment; suggestions regarding coping strategies that help to get through difficult times. Good Food Simcoe is a nonprofit organization bringing the Good Food Box to Innisfil. The box consists of an assortment of fruits and vegetables, much of which is grown locally. The cost is $10 for a small box and $15 for a large box. Orders must be pre-paid in cash and picked-up on the delivery day. They also need volunteers on packing day. HomeLife/Kempenfelt- Kelly Realty's Innisfil Beach Road office is collecting pennies for the Alzheimer Society program Penny for your Thoughts, along with grocery tapes from Sobeys, Zehrs and Foodland. Drop them off at the office any day of the week. Donations will be submitted to the organization each month for the remainder of the year. MONDAYS Friends of the Innisfil Library, Stroud Branch, meetings are held the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m.

A UFO meeting will be held every Monday at 10 a.m. No, we are not looking to exchange abduction stories, we are meeting to complete unfinished objects. If you have some knitting, sewing, or scrap-booking project, or would just like to meet some new people, come on out. The group meets in the basement of Lefroy United Church. For more information, call Edna at 436-2042. TUESDAYS Cookstown Computer Club drop-in program for elementary students, 4 to 5 p.m. at the library.

Stroud Seniors invite persons 55 + to join them for an afternoon of bid and progressive euchre, refreshments and companionship. 1 to 4 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church Hall, Painswick. St. Paul's Anglican Church at Yonge Street and Mapleview Drive East hosts a playgroup for parents/grandparents and children from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Stringing Pearls from 1 to 3 p.m. contemporary Bible study, Aprons and Briefcases, an opportunity for women juggling many tasks to nurture their spirit on the first and fourth Tuesday of each month from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. For more information call 722-7755.

The Beta Classes will be held at the Innisfil Community Church starting January 9th at 1pm. Beta is a life changing program and the twelve week course will enable you to live free from fear, stress aniexty and the pain of past hurts and traumas. WEDNESDAYS Friends of the Innisfil Library, Lakeshore Branch, meet the third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. New members are most welcome.

Euchre, bid euchre, Scrabble and cribbage is played at Alcona Seniors club every Wednesday at 11:30 to 3 p.m. at the ABC Hall on the 25th Sideroad below Innisfil Beach Rd. Refreshments and fun days. Bring a bag lunch.

The Teen Youth Group of the Parish of Churchill and Cookstown meet at St. John's Anglican Church every other Sunday in the parish hall from 12:30 - 2:30 pm. SATURDAY FEBRUARY 7 Stroud Presbyterian Church is hosting a homemade chili dinner, including salad, garlic bread, pies and beverage, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Admission is $8 per adult and $4 for children under 10 years old. The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m., and will include homemade cookies and hot chocolate. THURSDAY FEBRUARY 19 The prostate cancer support group, Man to Man, will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Canadian Cancer Society office. The office is located at 64 Cedar Pointe Drive, Unit 1406, in Barrie.
