Celebrating French culture through sport
      A flurry of winter fun was taking place at Goodfellow Public School last week. About 550 students participated in the school's annual Carnaval de Goodfellow, which combines French Canadian culture with outdoor activities such as snow soccer and golf, ball hockey, and spoon, snowshoe and walrus races.

Winterhawks end season on winning note
      Innisfil's Winterhawks Minor Peewee Ae team, sponsored by Team Machine Tools, finished off their 30 game regular season on a high note, winning three of their last four contests. The Hawks devastated EG 10-0 in Sharon on Dec. 21. Grant Carter had an awesome game in net for the Hawks, earning a well deserved shutout.

Thornton Ball Hockey League opens registration
      The Thornton Ball Hockey League is now accepting registrations for its upcoming mens, ladies, kids and co-ed seasons. The games are played at outdoor covered arenas in Thornton, Baxter and Angus. The cost is $100 per season, or $180 in the men's division.

Lacrosse leagues forming
      In their fifth year, Innisfil Minor Lacrosse continues to grow. Their field lacrosse league will be offering a Novice through Midget program. The Box lacrosse program will continue, with a Rep program — Tyke through Midget — and the Junior C team looks promising.
