Winterhawks end season on winning note Innisfil's Winterhawks Minor Peewee Ae team, sponsored by Team Machine Tools, finished off their 30 game regular season on a high note, winning three of their last four contests. The Hawks devastated EG 10-0 in Sharon on Dec. 21. Grant Carter had an awesome game in net for the Hawks, earning a well deserved shutout. Great team play contributed to the success, with goals scored by Jesse Tuckey (3), Hunter Adams (2), Josh Columbus, Travis Davies, Matthew Delabbio, Cody Harrison, and Kyle Sickinger. Assists went to Cooper Moores (2), Josh Columbus (2), Sickinger (2), Marshall Hamilton, Nathan Parker, Austin Lacey, Davies and Tuckey. Next up, the team travelled to Holly Centre to take on the Colts. After the first two periods, the teams were locked in a 0-0 battle. Harrison Mense-Dietrich, goaltender for the Hawks, had a stellar performance in net as the team was outshot going into the third period. Both teams came to play in the last 15 minutes, and it showed on the scoreboard. The Innisfil team came out on top, defeating the Colts 3-2, with goals scored by Cooper Moores, Mathew Delabbio, and Jacob McLeary. Assists went to Cody Harrison (2), Nathan Parker and McLeary. On Jan. 8th, the Hawks hosted the very strong Uxbridge team At the Innisfil Recreation Complex. After one period, the Hawks were down 1-0. Going into the second, the Hawks, already missing two players, where dealt a blow when they lost another to injury. With the short bench, the Hawks were feeling the pressure, but responded with a goal to tie the game at 1-1. However, the Hawks were defeated 3-1. The goal was scored by Cooper Moores, with an assist from Josh Campos. On Jan. 13, the team welcomed the Barrie Colts to Stroud for their last game of the regular season. The boys knew how important this game was and worked hard from the first face-off. Goal after goal was scored by the mighty Hawks and the stands were roaring as the team won the game by an impressive 8-4 score.
