Operation Wreck Check nets 15 vehicles

On July 3 the South Simcoe Police Traffic and Marine Unit conducted Operation Wreck Check (passenger vehicle safety inspections) in Cookstown.

Officers inspected 25 vehicles over the course of four hours.

Officers removed 15 vehicles from service. In total, 41 charges were issued under the Highway Traffic Act, for various offences.

Those charges included defective brakes (12), operate unsafe vehicle (2), operate vehicle without insurance (1), driving without a licence (1), using improper plates (1), overweight vehicle (3), and improper helmet on a motorcycle (1).
