Get out and walk your block this April. Two out of five Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. You can help change this statistic by joining the Canadian Cancer Society as a volunteer canvasser for our annual door to door campaign. Volunteers are needed in Alcona, Big Bay Point and Lefroy. The Canadian Mental Health Association of Barrie-Simcoe supports the development and continuance of self-help groups as a viable community resource for individuals experiencing difficulties. Self-Help groups can provide; support and understanding through difficult times; an opportunity to meet with others who have experienced similar difficulties; information and education; a safe and comfortable environment; suggestions regarding coping strategies that help to get through difficult times. Good Food Simcoe is a non-profit organization bringing the Good Food Box to Innisfil. The box consists of an assortment of fruits and vegetables, much of which is grown locally. The cost is $10 for a small box and $15 for a large box. Orders must be pre-paid in cash and picked-up on the delivery day. They also need volunteers on packing day. HomeLife/Kempenfelt- Kelly Realty's Innisfil Beach Road office is collecting pennies for the Alzheimer Society program Penny for your Thoughts, along with grocery tapes from Sobeys, Zehrs and Foodland. Drop them off at the office any day of the week. Donations will be submitted to the organization each month for the remainder of the year.

The Innisfil Pipes and Drums has openings for new players in tenor, side, base and student roles. Experienced players are welcome. All instruments and uniforms are supplied for free. Practice is held once per week, and the group participates in about

MONDAYS Friends of the Innisfil Library, Stroud Branch, meetings are held the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m.

TUESDAYS Cookstown Computer Club drop-in program for elementary students, 4 to 5 p.m. at the library.

WEDNESDAYS The ABC Club, located at the 25th Sideroad and Innisfil Beach Road, holds its bid euchre and cribbage, along with a Share the Wealth, on Wednesday mornings starting at 11:30 a.m., from September to June. SATURDAY NOVEMBER 8 The two-day Innisfil Studio Tour begins. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. About 30 local artists will participate in the 17th annual event, which takes place at 21 venues throughout the municipality. A variety of work, including painting, jewellery, wood carving and quilts will be available for purchase. Admission is free. St. James United Church will host the annual Autumn Fest Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is located on Victoria Street in Stroud. The event will include a craft and bake sale, and a children's only shopping room. A $6 lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. THURSDAY NOVEMBER 12 Barrie Thornton Old Time Fiddlers Night will be held at Living Faith Presbyterian Church, located at 206 Murphy Road in Baxter. This is a temporary site, until the renovations are complete at the Thornton Lions Hall. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the music starts at 7. Admission is $3 per person and children are free. All fiddlers, singers, callers, dancers and listeners are welcome to attend. For more information, call Cec Denney at 458-9996.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13 Cookstown United Church volunteers invite everyone to attend the 10th annual ham supper at the church, from 5 to 7 p.m. Adult admission is $13, and children six to 12 years old are $5. Children five and under eat for free.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 14 Join the Irish Claddagh Club for their annual Christmas shopping trip to Niagara Falls, New York. The group will be travelling by coach bus. Admission is $30. The bus leaves the Innisfil Beach Road commuter parking at 7:45 a.m. Price includes temporary membership to club. The group must receive confirmation of participation by Nov. 1. Mark the calendar for the annual St. Peter's Church Christmas Bazaar, which will be held at the Stroud Arena banquet hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The room is above the arena and there is elevator access available. There will be something for everyone, with the event featuring unique area craft vendors. Tea, a luncheon, baking, preserves, homemade goods, gifts for all ages, quilt raffle, silent auction and hand crafts will be available. Limited table space is available for at least 35. Quilt tickets are also being sold at selected grocery stores in the area. Contact Carolyn at 458- 0748 for more information.

A holiday/Christmas bazaar will be held at the Lions Hall on Innisfil Beach Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many talented crafters and vendors will have items on display. Homemade lunch, sweets, and soups will also be available. To book a $20 table, or for more information, call Barbara at 291-0119.

St. Paul's Anglican Church, located at the Mapleview Drive and Yonge Street intersection, will hostChristmas bazaar from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Baked goods, candy, gourmet food, gift baskets, crafts and woodworking will be available for purchase, among other items. A silent auction and penny table will also be available. A lunch room will also feature snacks and food. Santa Claus will visit the event from 10 to 11 a.m.

St. George's Anglican Church in Utopia will host a Christmas bazaar and tea at the Angus legion, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The event will feature a bake table, plum puddings, crafts, and 'Santa's Bag'. Tea will be served for $4 per person.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 20 Talent Night will be held at the Thornton Lions Hall, located at 248 Barrie Street, starting at 7 p.m. The event is presented by the New Life Community Christian Church. For more information, call 434-4269 or visit www.newlifeontheweb.net.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 21 Innisfil Eastern Star will host a roast beef dinner and bake sale at the Masonic Hall in Stroud, beginning at 6 p.m. For more information, call Hilda Neely at 722-6275.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 28 The Country Christmas Bazaar, Craft and Bake Sale will be held at Trinity United Church on Robert Street in Thornton. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a white elephant table, and guest vendors with knitting, decorative art, books, wreaths, gift baskets and candles. There will be a continental breakfast for $5, with proceeds benefitting a mission and outreach.

SATURDAY DECEMBER 5 The Thornton Community Turkey Shoot takes place at 6831 County Road 27, beginning at 10 a.m. Only 12 gauge shotguns will be allowed, at a cost of $3.50 per shot.
