THURSDAY NOVEMBER 12 Barrie Thornton Old Time Fiddlers Night will be held at Living Faith Presbyterian Church, located at 206 Murphy Road in Baxter. This is a temporary site, until the renovations are complete at the Thornton Lions Hall. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the music starts at 7. Admission is $3 per person and children are free. All fiddlers, singers, callers, dancers and listeners are welcome to attend. For more information, call Cec Denney at 458-9996. FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13 Cookstown United Church volunteers invite everyone to attend the 10th annual ham supper at the church, from 5 to 7 p.m. Adult admission is $13, and children six to 12 years old are $5. Children five and under eat for free. Gilford United Church is holding a pasta supper to raise funds for the Sleeping Children Around the World organization. The church has been involved with this organization for several years. Last year the church send more than 30 bed-kits (mats, pillows, bed sheets, blankets and bug netting) to children in developing countries. The event runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. There will be continuous seating, and admission is a donation. SATURDAY NOVEMBER 14 Join the Irish Claddagh Club for their annual Christmas shopping trip to Niagara Falls, New York. The group will be travelling by coach bus. Admission is $30. The bus leaves the Innisfil Beach Road commuter parking at 7:45 a.m. Price includes temporary membership to club. The group must receive confirmation of participation by Nov. 1. Mark the calendar for the annual St. Peter's Church Christmas Bazaar, which will be held at the Stroud Arena banquet hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The room is above the arena and there is elevator access available. There will be something for everyone, with the event featuring unique area craft vendors. Tea, a luncheon, baking, preserves, homemade goods, gifts for all ages, quilt raffle, silent auction and hand crafts will be available. Limited table space is available for at least $35. Quilt tickets are also being sold at selected grocery stores in the area. Contact Carolyn at 458- 0748 for more information. A holiday/Christmas bazaar will be held at the Lions Hall on Innisfil Beach Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many talented crafters and vendors will have items on display. St. Paul's Anglican Church, located at the Mapleview Drive and Yonge Street intersection, will host a Christmas bazaar from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Baked goods, candy, gourmet food, gift baskets, crafts and woodworking will be available for purchase, among other items. A silent auction and penny table will also be available. A lunch room will also feature snacks and food. Santa Claus will visit the event from 10 to 11 a.m. St. George's Anglican Church in Utopia will host a Christmas bazaar and tea at the Angus legion, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The event will feature a bake table, plum puddings, crafts, and 'Santa's Bag'. Tea will be served for $4 per person. WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 18 Bid euchre will be held at the Gwen Taylor Community Library in the Newton Robinson United Church building, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $3 per person, and a lunch will be served. Everyone is welcome to attend. South Simcoe Police Chief Bruce Davis will discuss crime prevention techniques during the Greater Innisfil Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Speaker Series meeting. The event will take place at the Getaway Restaurant in Georgian Downs, from 7:15 to 9 a.m. Admission is $10 and includes a hot breakfast. To reserve a spot, call Claudia at 431-4199. FRIDAY NOVEMBER 20 Talent Night will be held at the Thornton Lions Hall, located at 248 Barrie Street, starting at 7 p.m. The event is presented by the New Life Community Christian Church. For more information, call 434-4269 or visit www.newlifeontheweb.net. The Innisfil Lioness monthly progressive euchre and food drive event will take place at the Lions Hall on Innisfil Beach Road. Admission is $10 per person. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event begins at 7:30. Cash prizes, draws, a light buffet, euchre pots and a bar will be available. SATURDAY NOVEMBER 21 Innisfil Eastern Star will host a roast beef dinner and bake sale at the Masonic Hall in Stroud, beginning at 6 p.m. For more information, call Hilda Neely at 722-6275. The South Simcoe Palette Club is having a 50th anniversary show and sale at the new Cookstown Library and Community Centre, from Nov. 18th to Dec. 2nd. Regular library hours apply. There will be a reception on Nov. 21st at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26 The Simcoe County Quilters’ Guild will meet at the ANAF Hall, located at 7 George Street in Barrie, at 1 p.m. Orillia area resident Wanda Milankov will host a discussion entitled 'A Quilter Goes to School'. SATURDAY NOVEMBER 28 The Country Christmas Bazaar, Craft and Bake Sale will be held at Trinity United Church on Robert Street in Thornton. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a white elephant table, and guest vendors with knitting, decorative art, books, wreaths, gift baskets and candles. There will be a continental breakfast for $5, with proceeds benefitting a mission and outreach. FRIDAY DECEMBER 4 St. Peter's Anglican Church, located at 6254 Yonge Street in Churchill, is hosting its third annual free turkey dinner, from 5 to 7 p.m. This dinner, with all the trimmings, is offered to everyone. SATURDAY DECEMBER 5 The Thornton Community Turkey Shoot takes place at 6831 County Road 27, beginning at 10 a.m. Only 12 gauge shotguns will be allowed, at a cost of $3.50 per shot. A food booth will be available. For more information, call Mike at 458-9279. SUNDAY DECEMBER 6 Christmas in the Village will take place along Robert Street in Thornton. The event starts at 6 p.m., with a visit from Santa planned for 6:15. Count down to the lighting of the trees, music and caroling, with hot chocolate and treats supplied for everyone.
