Roads closing for Santa Claus Parade

South Simcoe Police would like to remind residents that, on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., Holland Street in Bradford will be closed from Dissette Street to Sideroad 10.

At that time, Bradford’s annual Satna Claus Parade will take place. As well, Holland to Line 6 will be closed. All intersections through these areas will also be closed to all traffic.

Man damages property

On Nov. 17, police received a 911 call for assistance to an Innisfil residence regarding a domestic dispute.

Investigating officers learned that a 30-year-old man damaged property after becoming involved in a dispute with his girlfriend. The accused was arrested and transported to the police station, where he was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Barrie court.

Barrie Police arrest South Simcoe suspect

Barrie Police arrested an 18-year-old woman on the strength of a warrant held by South Simcoe Police, for failing to comply with a recognizance on two occasions.

The officer in charge of the matter was contacted and took custody of the woman, continuing the arrest. The accused was transported to the South Division station in Bradford, and held in custody overnight pending a bail hearing scheduled for Nov. 14.

Woman allegedly stalked

A 29-year-old Innisfil man was arrested by South Simcoe Police after he had been allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend for the past several months.

He had been contacting her through the online social networking website Facebook, and even caused minor damage to her Innisfil property.

The victim feared for her safety and finally notified police on Nov. 13, after he was seen in the area of her home. He was subsequently located and taken to the South Division station in Bradford.

He was charged and held for a bail hearing Nov. 14.

Driver refuses roadside test

On Nov. 12, a police officer was on general patrol and stopped a vehicle.

The driver, a 32-year-old Innisfil man was subsequently arrested for refuse physical coordination test and impaired care or control and taken to the South Division station. He was later charged with refuse breath test, refuse physical coordination test demand and impaired care and control and released on a promise to appear.

Family dispute leads to arrest

On Nov. 11, police were called to an Innisfil address because of a family dispute.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the homeowner about her 15-year-old son. As a result, the police arrested a 15-year-old Innisfil resident for assault and mischief under $5,000.

He was transported to the South Division station and held for a bail hearing the following day.

Fire inspection scam reported

Police are investigating a fraud which occurred at a business in Bradford.

The unknown suspect goes into businesses and advise that he is there for the purpose of inspecting their fire extinguishers and safety lights.

He collects a fee for this inspection and provides a certificate. A business owner became suspicious and contacted the landlord, who advised they did not request an inspection of the fire equipment.

The inspection is bogus, and business owners are warned to be cautious of anyone soliciting such a request.

RIDE check conducted

On Monday November 9th, police conducted a RIDE spot check on Dissette Street in Bradford.

During the inspection, police stopped about 95 vehicles.

None of the drivers stopped had consumed alcohol prior to driving that day.
