Suspect flees scene after striking pole

Impaired driver arrested

On Jan. 30, South Simcoe Police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Turner Court in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Police spotted the vehicle and pulled it over. As a result of a conversation with the driver, a 53-year-old Bradford man was arrested for impaired care and control. He was transported to the South Division station and subsequently charged with impaired care and control and drive over 80 milligrams.

He was released on a promise to appear and officer in charge undertaking.

Resident calls cops on suspected drunk driver

On Sunday January 31st, police received a report from a citizen regarding a possible impaired woman driving a vehicle in Gilford.

Police attended the location and discovered a woman behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. An investigation at the scene lead the officer to believe that the accused had more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in her blood while having care and control of a motor vehicle. The woman was transported to the South Division in Bradford. Further investigation confirmed that the accused was drunk and was subsequently charged with impaired care and control and over 80 mgs.

The 49-year-old Bradford woman was released with a court date on Feb. 25th in Bradford.

Outstanding warrant arrest made

Halton Regional Police arrested a 25-year-old Oakville resident for failing to appear in court on the morning of Sunday January 31st.

The arrest warrant was held by South Simcoe Police, who had originally charged the accused with a drug offence for which he failed to appear for a court date on April 9th, 2009. The accused was picked up by South Simcoe Police and transported to the Bradford station, where he was lodged for bail court on Monday February 1st.

Family fight leads to officer assault

On Friday January 29, police were called to a residence in Innisfil, where a family dispute was occurring between adult brothers.

Police spoke to the 20- year-old brother, in an attempt to calm him, and he assaulted an officer. The officer sustained a minor injury and was treated at hospital. The second brother, 27, was arrested under the Trespass to Property Act.

Both Innisfil men were arrested and transported to the South Division.

One was charged with assault police and later released on a promise to appear and undertaking with conditions. The other brother was charged with fail to leave premises when directed.

Pole struck by truck driver

On Friday January 29, police were called to a collision on Killarney Beach Road in Innisfil.

A truck had struck a pole. Upon arrival, the driver and vehicle had left the scene. Police conducted a search of the area and eventually located the truck and driver involved. The driver was investigated and found to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for the offence and taken to the South Division, where breath samples were in excess of the legal limit. It was further found he took the vehicle without the owner's consent. A 20-year-old Innisfil man has been charged with care and control while impaired, excess alcohol, fail to report accident and take auto without consent.

He was later released on a promise to appear.

Crack cocaine found during search

On Thursday January 28, a 30-year-old Barrie man attended a Bradford court to answer to charges from a previous arrest.

A computer check of the man showed he was wanted by Barrie Police on an outstanding warrant. The man was arrested in court and searched. Officers then found a quantity of crack cocaine in his pocket. He now faces additional charges of possession of a controlled substance. The man was turned over to Barrie officers, to answer to the charges on the warrant.
